Holiday travels......

Busy lives...
Busy schedules...

It's nice to
 know
there is...

a doorway...
to transport you home.

Safe travels

Morning journey......

Do you ever wake up in the morning
wishing....
you could magically transport
to another place....
A place that has a hold on
your heart?
Come with me...
I am 'traveling' to
such a place...

All aboard the Arnold ferry...

Approaching the Mackinac Island harbor..

Where bicycles await...

Inviting porches beckon visitors to step aside...
...come and sit for a while...

Still with us?  There is more to see....

As the day unwinds....take a moment to relax...

And enjoy the tranquility....

As evening descends...

...and the day becomes a
treasured memory.

We're off.....

Tomorrow is...
 a very big day.
Darling daughter will audition
for a Big 10 University dance department.
Nervous?
Yes, she is....
Dancing is what she loves...
the history...
the culture....
the blending of music and expression.
It is her hope...
to dance in college....
To study and learn.

So, if her nerves are on edge..
her toes will know what to do...
the music will set her
 in motion..
and she will do
 her best.

The Waiting Game...

The Cucumber Tree has shed her colors..
Energy returned to her center...
Bare arms rest in the sky...
Waiting for the change..

We know it is coming...
The anticipation so familiar....
We watch the sky.

The clouds give clues...
Temperatures dip closer and closer
to the point of conversion..
When moisture magically turns into
 snowflakes!

However...
Snowflakes have yet to fall.
Every day we wait....
and watch..

It won't be long now, Miss Sophie...

Honoring Veterans Day....

"Our ship was a destroyer, called the USS. Sigourney, DD643.
It had for defense four 5-inch guns, four torpedo launchers, two depth charge launchers,
six 50 cal. machine guns.
She carried 175 crew and officers.
Could run at about 35knots. It was taken out of moth balls as it was
a World War II vintage craft.
We, the crew that went to Korea, put  it in fighting condition...
which took about 1 year.

The truce was signed while we were on our way to the front.
I remember how we all felt very grateful.

We spent 8 months within sight of the north Korean coast assuring
the peace would be maintained.
From there our orders took us on a continuing trip west as we
circumnavigated the world.
Up the Suez cannal thru the Mediterranean and across the
Atlantic to Norfolk, Virginia.  Many ports and countries on the way home were visited."
-Directly quoted from our dearest Pa who lives each day with grace and honor.

We had lunch together the other day...
he passed this Kodachrome print across the table
and asked if I recognized 'the feller'.
Of course I did...
Handsome as ever with his coppery red hair,
All-American boy-next-door charm..
An honored American Navy Veteran
of the
Korean War.

To the young men and women of past and present service...
We thank you most sincerely for
your selfless commitment to our country
and her freedom.

Yesterday and Today....

It seems like yesterday darling daughter announced
when she grew up she wanted to be....
an artist, a doctor,
a waitress, a fairy...
.....and.....
a ballerina.
Today she auditioned for a college ballet program.
It seems like yesterday.....

Today darling daughter spent the day dancing...
something she loves to do.

Happy Birthday, Pa...

Happy birthday to our dearest Pa...
Today he celebrates 78 years of adventure...

He has blessed our family with many
wonderful memories of good times shared.
Summer days sailing and fishing on Lake Charlevouix
eating bushels of
sweet corn on the cob...
Fudge runs into town..
and pie at Jesperson's.
There are the mid-winter escapes to the
tropical island paradise...
sunset dinners on the porch and
late night golf cart rides..
Tarpon and flats fishing..
countless sunny days spent on the beaches of
 Boca Grande...
Happy Birthday, Pa!
We love you!
