Art on the Grand...

Our city has a new sense of energy.  Energy generated by art...
And lots of art!
Artists from all over the country put their
works on display around the city.
It sure makes for an interesting Sunday stroll.
Come along and I will show you some of the things we saw today.

A giant easel...at times the artist will stand atop the platform at the very top of his easel.

Our very own 'Nessie' monster...complete with sound effects.

Table set for two...

We have a beautiful skyline...fun places to walk, shop and eat.
And Art...lots and lots of Art!

If you haven't been to our city...you will have to come visit.

Painted Toes....

I would love to see what this young artist would do if
she knew no limits...
How beautiful our city would be if she were allowed to
paint the buildings,
the sidewalks, the overpasses.
I can sense she is restless...

As you can see, she is no longer content to just
paint her toes!

Beautiful Day....

Today is another perfect weather day.  The sun is shining and the sky is a brilliant blue.
The air is dry and warm...
However, all of the signs are there.
The leaves in the trees are beginning to turn.
The garden is starting to fade and wilt.
There are little grape-like berries hanging on the fence ivy.

There is a constant buzzing of insects in the trees.
Blue Jays make their presence known to all.
And the flowers are making one last big splash before they retreat.

Squirrels are almost too busy to tease little Sophie dog...but they take a 'time out' from
their frantic nut gathering to play a game of 'catch me if you can.'
Of course, the squirrels always win...

 Poor Sophie.

Under the Cucumber Tree

Early fall brings a softer sunlight.  I especially like the way it filters through the
leaves of the cucumber tree.

Funny how the grass is so green in the fall.
I love the smell of fresh cut grass.
I miss this most when the snow comes and covers everything in
a white blanket.

Here is an end of summer treat for a lucky little garden mouse.

No.. no, Sophie....

Oh, little Miss Sophie...
What have you done?

Her little beard is full of double chocolate brownie.
(As is her tummy..)
Oh, Miss Sophie.
The power of chocolate is too much for you!

Mackinac Island morning departure

Round Island Lighthouse

A chilly late summer morning.
Fog and mist swirl around the island.
The Great Lake Huron sets the tone for the day.
